The digital humanities operates at the intersection of computer and information technology, social sciences, and the humanities. Digital humanities results from the implementation of collaborative cross-disciplinary research through the use of traditional and approbation of modified methods.
The SCIA workshop aims to disseminate and exchange ideas and practical experience in using digital and information methods in the humanitarian sphere.
Scientific reports, speeches, and discussions within the workshop framework will allow for a productive exchange of experience between domestic and foreign scientists and practitioners in digital humanities. It will strengthen relationships between higher education institutions regarding establishing and deepening scientific cooperation and exchanging research results on the workshop topics.
Topic 1. Digitization of historical and cultural objects
The issues of the topic cover the creation of digital archives, libraries, and digital curation, the creation and maintenance of digital repositories of historical and cultural data, the use of virtual and augmented reality technologies, geospatial and cultural analysis for the presentation of cultural heritage, digital art events and art management of cultural processes, identifying spatial models and trends in historical and cultural data.
Topic 2. Computational linguistics in the practices of digital humanities
The issues of the topic cover the use of applied linguistics tools (text analytics, text mining, natural language processing) and involve quantitative and qualitative analysis of literary texts to identify key concepts, interpretations, trends, and connections.
Topic 3. Data visualization, image processing and media design
The issue of information visualization in digital humanities involves the creation and use of tools for presenting and analyzing large data sets, such as graphs, charts, infographics, and information panels. Developed innovative forms of presentation of quantitative data obtained from textual and cartographic materials, designed to illustrate traditional qualitative humanities research.
The issue of image processing involves the study of ways and methods of studying digitized images of artifacts (manuscripts, old prints, works of fine and decorative arts) for interpretation and reconstruction.
The issue of media design covers the development and analysis of digital content intended for publication on various platforms (logos, book and magazine covers, advertising, infographics, multimedia).
Topic 4. Social media and information behavior
The issues of the topic cover the analysis of information interaction of users of social networks and the blogosphere at the level of individuals, communities, organizations, and cultures in the context of identifying new ideas and understanding social and historical processes of the development of society.
Topic 5. Open science, open data and scholarly digital resources
The issues of the topic cover innovative ways of scientific communication, cooperation, distribution of digital scientific content, and implementation of intellectual projects.
Topic 6. Digital pedagogy and media education
The issues of the section cover the use of modern digital technologies in teaching and learning in online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning environments; the formation of media culture in society and the safety of interaction with the modern media system.
